Nuclear energy is a nonrenewable energy source that is very interesting and has a lot to offer. Nuclear energy involves the process of fission and fusion. Fusion is the combing of the nucleus of atoms to create energy. Fission is the nuclei of radioactive atoms that are split into two or more fragments. The process of creating nuclear energy involves using uranium which we can run out of, so that is why it is considered a nonrenewable energy source. Advantages of nuclear energy is that it does not pollute the air. Another example, it forms large amounts of electricity. Even with all these wonderful advantages, it wouldn't exist without disadvantages. Sometimes, spills happen when there is radioactive decay, which can cause global warming. Nuclear waste is the material nuclear energy becomes after being through the reactor. Even though the nuclear energy itself doesn't affect the environment, the process of mining and refining uranium does release carbon into the air causing pollution. Creating nuclear energy starts with the process of fission; nuclei atoms splitting. The fission creates steam which is which is used by a turbine generator to create clean electricity for us to use. Nuclear energy is not as common or popular as fossil fuels, but it sure does affect our lives in may different ways.
